Job Description:
Beverly Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center, Stroke Service Hospital and Emergent Percutaneous Cardiac Intervention Center.
We serve as the primary point of entry for patients accessing these services.
The department is staffed with at least one Emergency Medicine Board Certified Physician and Mid-Level Clinician at all times.
Here at Beverly Hospital, we have an Emergency Department New Graduate RN Program tailored for the nurse who wants to specialize in Emergency Services.
Your transition from student nurse to registered nurse is an important one, requiring additional education, simulation, and on-the-floor orientation.
Orientation:
Your unit orientation will be a total of 18 weeks, with flexibility based on individual needs.
The Emergency Department (ED) is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, and in order to ensure your success, you will have multiple opportunities to check in with educators and your nurse manager to assist you during this process.
You will be assigned a preceptor who will help to orient and guide your practice in the Beverly ED.
You will not be expected to work holidays during your orientation period.
Didactic/Simulation:
Didactic and simulation exercises are a way for the newly graduated Emergency Department RN to practice necessary skills prior to your orientation to the unit.
Each class includes focused information on each body process accompanied by interactive exercises, documentation tips, and case study scenarios to bring the learning to life.
You will also have the opportunity to work with other members of the care team during simulation, as our doctors work alongside our newly graduated RNs to model closed-loop communication and effective strategies for teamwork in a critical-care situation.
Additional Support:
In the Beverly ED we have a clinical practice specialist who will provide your didactic education, simulation exercises, as well as additional support throughout your orientation process.
This individual will remain with you through your orientation period and beyond.
He/she will provide support, guidance and resources needed for a successful transition.
The Nurse Manager is a resource for you right on the unit.
He/she will introduce you to the team and outline unit specific processes.
You will meet with the manager routinely alongside your Clinical Practice Specialist (CPS) and preceptor to set goals and to eliminate any barriers to your success.
